Liturgy and Prayer Ministries

Several groups of parishioners contribute to the solemnity, beauty and grace of our worship. Training and/or preparation is necessary for most of these ministries, but interested parishioners are always welcome. Altar and Rosary Society: The Altar and Rosary Society meets weekly to prepare the church for weekend Masses, baptisms, funerals, and weddings.  Contact: Mia Pond at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 404-786-7104 More Information

Altar-ServersAltar Servers: Altar Servers assist the priest during the Liturgy. Any child or adolescent who has received his or her First Holy Communion may become an altar server. Training is offered once a year. A monthly schedule is prepared and emailed to all altar servers and typically requires service at one or two Sunday Masses a month. Special rehearsals are required for those servers involved in Christmas Midnight Mass and Holy Week services. Meetings: Training and rehearsals as needed. Eucharistic Adoration: Every week on Wednesday, from 12:30 – 4:30 p.m., the Blessed Sacrament is enthroned, offering parishioners the opportunity to pray. Additional guardians are needed. Contacts: Kathy Scott at 404-388-7939 or Henry Neumann at 404-634-9833.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion: Extraordinary Ministers distribute the Eucharist during Masses and to the hospitalized or homebound.  It is one of the most important and humbling ministries in which lay people can participate. Each candidate must be a registered member of Sacred Heart for one year, be approved by the pastor, and complete training offered at Sacred Heart.  Contact: Jim Walsh at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Flower-GuildFlower Guild: This group is responsible for the creation of floral arrangements for the altar as well as for weddings and other church-related celebrations. Generally, arranging is performed on Friday mornings at the church. Anyone with artistic flair or the desire to gain some is invited to join this ministry. Music Ministries:

Contemporary Group: "Hearts on Fire" is the contemporary music group that leads the congregation in song at the Sunday 6:00 p.m. Mass and other liturgies throughout the year.
